In this newsletter we show you how to make your own faerie bag in another amazing tutorial from Red Fran, which featured in the sold-out issue 15. This edition is available as a PDF digital download if you wish to read it. See all PDF editions HERE.
INSTRUCTIONS
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED: Fabric stripes (any fabric is ok, soft material is easier is to work with). Strong thread and a needle One button.
Cut (or rip) your fabric into strips. Make several strips, no longer than 1 metre. Make a braid using 3 strips at a time. I like to mix glitter thread between my strips. I like to use left-over fabric from the clothes I make, so I can recycle it and use the colours that I like! :-).
Knot one end of your braid and take your meedle and thread and start to sew. You can work in a circle or horizontally, it’s up to you: there’s no standard way to sew it, just be sure that your project is compact and strong. To make this bag work in a circle starting from the bottom, keeping the braids flat.
When finished make another knot at the end of your braid and sew it on the last row at the top. Then add a little strip of fabric to make the button hole and sew the button on to the front of the purse. To make the shoulder belt use aprox. 1,5 meter of braid and sew it on to the purse.
Have fun creating! We’d LOVE to see your results!

MAKE YOUR OWN FELT FAERIE GLOVES
From issue 12
You will need the following items: * Merino Wool * Bubble Wrap (3 meter long) * Soap * Water * Glove Pattern (fig.6) * Thread – Scissors – needle * Addictional decorations (red lace)
Take the bubble wrap and fold in half with the flat surfaces together. The bubbles should be in contact with the wool. Take the wool and tear it and make a large rectangle, at least 35cm x 80cm Make at least 3 layers, alternating the direction of the wool in each layer.
Make one layer horizontal and one layer vertical. On the last layer the layering of the wool can be mixed. Pour soap and water gently on your wool and wrap it. Roll it gently at the start, then harder at the end for at least 5 minutes (change the direction of the felt every 2 mins). Check if there’s enough soap in your wrap: The soap should ooze from the edges when you are rolling it.
Now for the fun part! Once the felt is thick and strong enough you can slam it with force in a sink for at least 5 mins, then leave to dry. Next, copy out the pattern and cut your felt leaving 1 cm sewing space (N.B. The pattern is half of one glove!). Repeat this process 4 times then sew them together, then you can add extra decoration if required.

MAKE MAGICAL FAERIE PERFUME
From issue 10
The Faery folk love gifts! One of the simplest of presents you can give them is perfume this is best done in the form of infusion oil. This simple method of perfume making can be used to fragrance the body, bath or sprinkled about the home to entice the Faery folk. It can also be used in an oil burner as an offering or used to scent sachets left out for the Fae
1.Gather together some strong smelling flowers and resins, Rose, Lavender and Amber. You’ll need about a handful of each.
2. Grind them down with a pestle and mortar or place them in a paper bag and roll them with a rolling pin.
3. Wet the flowers and resins with a little vodka, brandy or whisky to bring out their scent.
4. Warm some oil (about 2 tbs) in a ladle and add the moistened ingredients.
5. Close the mix up in an air tight jar and leave it there for seven days. After this time strain off the fluid and repeat the process with the left over herbs.
6. Bottle and label if you wish, and enjoy! Or leave as an offering for your fairy friends!

MAKE A FAERIE DREAM CATCHER!
From issue 4 with Bubbles the Pixie
1. You can leave your hoop bare if you prefer that look. I like to wrap 5mm satin ribbon around my hoop because it is an easy way of adding colour to your dreamcatcher and gives a lovely shiny finish. I fix it in place using strong all purpose glue and use a little glue every couple of inches to stop the ribbon from slipping. You can also use wool, embroidery thread or paint to cover your hoop.
2. Tie the thread to your hoop at the top and then at even intervals around the hoop, about every two inches. Leave a bit of slack to create a slight loop, but don’t let it be too loose. Tie the last knot quite close to the first knot to stop a large gap from forming. This is the first row.
3. Continue tying knots around the circle. This time, instead of tying your knot onto the hoop, make your knot in the center of each loop in the first row. Continue round in a spiral until you are left with a small circle in the middle. The circle size is up to you. Thread ribbon around the edge of this circle to give it a more defined look if you wish. You could also add beads too. You can add beads at any point in the weaving process, remember ‘less’ is more!
4. You can hang feathers from it wrap flowers, ivy, or fluff around the hoop, attach butterflys and flowers, or hang crystals or shells etc. These are all things that faeries will love. The possibilities are endless. I have wrapped Ivy around my hoop and a few small flowers which I have made sparkle with a little fairy dust!. The butterfly I’ve added to the middle came from a flower shop (I glittered it myself). And I’ve hung a feather with a small jewel, and some silvery trails made from the thread.
5. Make a loop at the top of your dreamcathcer using some thread. Hang your finished dreamcatcher in the room where you sleep. Hang it above your bed to get the best results. Dreams fly around above your head and are caught in the dreamweb. Good dreams are filtered through your dreamcatcher onto your head, while bad dreams are trapped in the web. Cleanse your dreamcatcher under the light of a full moon to rid it of bad dreams. This should give you a peaceful nights sleep.
6.I hope you have enjoyed creating your very own faerie dreamcatcher. It is a wonderful opportunity to allow your creativity to flow, and they also make excellent gifts for friends and family. Hand-made gifts are always more special and will be a treasured gift forever. Visit Bubbles on Instagram to see her magical wings and mandalas.

MAKE A FAE WAND!
From issue 3 with Kim Cooper
1. It is not the wand that works it is the practitioner. Your wand is a tool used to direct the users will or intention. Wands are gifts from the trees, it is best never to cut a branch from your chosen tree but to collect a branch that’s already fallen from it. Remember to ask the trees permission It’s also a good idea to leave an offering, water, honey, wine, or crystals are good.
2. Remove the bark from the wood then attach a crystal to the top, you can use any type of crystal that you hold an affinity with I often use rose quartz as it is easily obtainable and is the stone of un- -conditional love and infinite peace. It’s best to wrap strong string around the bottom half of the crystal and onto the wood as this will help keep it in place and will hide the glue.
3. If you have a wood burning pen you can create more meaning to your wand by adding patterns, zodiac signs, runes, wiccan, faery elfin or pagan symbols. Felt tip will also work just as well and you could experiment with different colours on the wood. There really are no rules when it comes to the creation of your wand, so allow yourself to have lots of fun!
4. I often wrap string around the bottom end of the wand as this will give you a better grip/grasp. One of the most wonderful ways to create a powerful piece is to add a memento that has meaning to you; this can be any- -thing, a pebble, ribbon, a bit of fabric or even a twig. Use your imagination as there are no rules, just allow your creativity to flow as you create your wand.
5. The traditional length of a wand is said to be around eighteen inches long. However it’s fine for your wand to be bigger or smaller, whatever you feel ok with is “right” for you. your wand will look lovely when placed upon a faery altar, and will add an extra magical feel to a sacred space. They also make beautiful hand-made gifts.
6. To activate or Charge your new wand hold the wand, focusing on energy flowing out of your hands and into the wand. If you intend to use your wand for magic it’s important to remember magic should always be under taken in the spirit of love and kindness, as negative spells are likely to backfire.
